utilize your youth!

man… the last couple years has worn me down… i put in a lotta hours on the thrash stick… in my 27th year of life, i was running full throttle… nothing but shredding… almost 7 days a week… it seems like a decade ago, but i’m only 31… 4 years ago i had way more energy to burn… i still feel good these days on the board, but man, i can’t hang like i used to… the little injuries that didn’t matter then hurt now… getting injured in your older age is a much bigger deal… when you are young, you rely on others for most of your needs… when you get older, you are responsible for yourself… you need to be on your A-game to thrive… that’s what gets tough about shredding and pushing yourself… you think about injury… it slows you down.

i won’t let my age affect my skateboarding… i will continue to go out and progress… but those tricks that i once wanted are slipping away day by day… i still want to conquer them, but i just don’t see myself coming through… it is also becoming more and more fun to not think about getting tricks at all… i like just going out and finding something shitty to shred… making the most of whatever is there is what’s up… planning every trick out sucks…

while you have your fresh legs, use them! the mileage piles up on your body one way or another… everything catches up to you… everything. and sometimes it’s good and sometimes it’s bad… your youth is there and then it’s gone… you wonder where it went… you wonder if you utilized it properly… but that’s all you can do… when you have it, utilize it! shred it all… your brain will get in the way if you wait too long…

i’m not saying when you lose your youth you should give up… i am still a kid… just an old one… i’m just saying give it everything you got until you can’t… life wears you down if you let it… so don’t let it… easier said than done.

peace and noLove…

OH and a shout out to my friend and shredboarding legend, Jeremy Frankovis… he just earned another notch in his belt being alive in this galaxy… he still gets out and shreds while running the skateboard scene in Broomfield… respect.
