taking ownership (ownthatshit)…

an important lesson i learned early in my working life was taking ownership of the things you do… i was running a business that someone else was funding, and my business was just a part of a larger machine… our success at the branch i worked at directly affected the company as a whole… at the time, i did not realize that the company was trying to become something more corporate, but i kept on the course… i worked on my own… i did everything for this company… i was more committed to my direct boss and not to the larger machine at the time… my boss was also a close friend so i didn’t want to let him down…

it was easy for me to take ownership of the business… i mean, i was the only employee at my branch, so everything was up to me… i also wanted to prove that i could run this business on my own to my boss and my father… i was somewhat forced into this mindset, but it grew on me… i eventually left the company due to overworking and exhaustion, but i kept that mindset… when i do things, i do them to the best of my ability… i try to do them so well and detailed as if it is mine… this makes me a bit of a crazy person, but it also has helped me succeed…

whether it is work or play, you gotta do the best you can whenever you can… you gotta own that shit… people will see the hard work… maybe not right away or the very first time you do something above and beyond, but eventually you will be rewarded… you need to be able to tell yourself you did a great job, and the only way you can do that is by really doing/trying your best/hardest… i respect and acknowledge the expectations others put on my job… but i eventually create the requirements for the job to be done correctly in my eyes…

whether on the skateboard, in the classroom, or at the work place, push yourself as hard as you can… see where it takes you… you’ll never know until you try…

peace and noLove…
