save your breath…

i was sitting at a dinner for my friend’s pre-wedding day party, and we had just filled our plates with delicious food… as i was about to attack the plate i had just masterfully created, i was interrupted… the food we were about to eat needed to be blessed and thanked all of a sudden… it seemed like the wrong place and time to do this… i understand why people do it… i grew up with family friends that said “grace” before dinner… i never minded it then, but i did this night… i am not sure why it all of a sudden bothered me so much…

it is arrogant to think that everyone sees the world the way you do… it is arrogant to force your beliefs on others… is arrogance a part of some religions? why did this person feel that they needed to interrupt everything to profess their mindless opinion on a group of already happy people? is silent prayer not ok? does everyone need to know that you believe in a superior being? honestly, keep it to yourself… step out of your shoes once a day, pal… it’ll open your mind much further than the “holy” scripture you limit your existence to…

i don’t understand why we feel the need to profess and preach about the way we see the world… silence is a powerful tool… listening more often than talking is how you learn and absorb knowledge… what you see and believe doesn’t matter to anyone else but yourself… and that is ok… that is how you should live… unless you are asked about how you see things, don’t talk about it… it’s simple as that… it’ll save you from senseless and meaningless interactions… you’ll learn to listen attentively and respond constructively… the world will be a better place with less people opening their mouths and polluting the airwaves…

so next time someone wants to force their perspective on you, acknowledge it and move on… you see things your own way… they might not realize that… enlighten them… unfortunately, i didn’t think of this until after the dinner i ate at… i just remember being a little perturbed by the “blessing” of the food… he really should have kept it to himself…

just keep it to yourself…

peace and noLove…
