san francisco…

last week a few of the homies embarked on a mission to San Francisco… one of the few homes to real skateboarding… street skateboarding… sidewalk surfin’… hill bombing… gnarliness… it is home to many pro skateboarders… and the sick ones… and now i understand why…

there was a lot of hustle bustle the entire trip… constant action from all angles… bums were dancing, air fighting, self-chatting, talkin’ shit while cars are zoomin’ by, trains are breaking down, tourists are lost, etc… everything is happening all the time… everyone in the city is very respectful and aware of skateboarders… you don’t get hassled much at all… you mind your own business and people mind theirs… it is a hectic but laid back vibe (if that makes any sense!)…

the skateboarding there is awesome… just like most cities though, it is what you make of it… you can sit and lurk at every spot… you can talk about how every spot is fucked up… but it didn’t stop the thousands of other homies out there pushing around SF… so zip your lip and start skating… or sit down. we toured around the city with a homie from Rollin’ Stoned named Jon Taylor… he showed us famous spots, new spots, legendary spots, cuddy spots, and some hill bombs… it was skate, beer, skate, beer, beer, skate, skate, skate, beer whenever we were out… Jon always knew where to take us and we appreciate that shit! the times we were roaming alone, we struggled a bit to know where to go… but we figured it out later in the trip… i mean, it’s SF! get on your board and explore!

i have to say, most of the spots in SF are way gnarlier in person than on film… we definitely talked a lot about how much more respect we have for the homies out there… the granite might grind real good, but still, you gotta man the fuck up at a lotta spots… even the famous 3 up 3 down… hell yea.

i must say that this trip has opened my eyes to skateboarding and its roots… i mean, we have it real nice here in Colorado… we have a ton of parks, but these parks are making skateboarding way easier than it really is… i am hoping to push myself harder to skate more street… i love it… it’s true freedom when you are skateboarding in the streets… there ain’t nothing better…

a big shout out to Lowcard Magazine… these dudes are the shit… if i had more money to throw around, i would advertise in their magazine and give these homies all my money… haha… they do good business out in SF… they took care of us on our last day as well… took us to a sick DIY spot, BBQ-ed, and took us to the airport! they sent us off with an amazing last impression of SF… we can’t wait to return the favor of the hospitality they showed us out here in Denver…

the community of skateboarders and skateboarding in SF is tight… everyone has a lot of respect for one another and you don’t see that often… especially in a a big city… it’s usually dog-eat-dog… keep it up San Fran… there is a ton of mayhem in your city, but everyone gets along… good work.

we filmed a ton of stuff and we hope we did Denver well by getting a few clips… while we bombed a few hills in SF, we were still put in our place… put it this way, i didn’t know how to powerslide before this trip… i do now.

peace and noLove…
