young manhood…

the skateboard does magical things to us… it is a preservation source of sorts… it keeps us in a place of rebellion and anti… it leads us on a path that we create… there are no rules or right/wrong… you create what you believe is reality on a skateboard… there is a lot to say about these statements… the conversation is never ending… it’s an inspiring conversation… once you realize how free you feel and are on a skateboard, it becomes your existence.

i finally got around to watching that bones brigade documentary… man, that movie is great… it was a bit over-dramatic at times, but wow… skateboarding has come a long way… and the guys that have paved the main roads for the side streets to exist on are amazing… we owe everything to them…

there was some chatter from Lance Mountain about skateboarding keeping him youthful and responsibly irresponsible… his words were dead on… they got me thinking about how skateboarding has kept me sane… sometimes you grow up and you grow up too fast… you lose sight of what’s important and real… you dismiss the things that make you happy, so you can achieve something that isn’t real/meaningful… you end up lost… skateboarding reminds you (or at least me) that daily accomplishment is important… keeping things simple is important… staying active is important… trying new things is important… friends and family are important… celebration is important… life is important…

another part of the movie that struck me was how young Stacy Peralta looked! i mean, on the subject of preserving youth, this guy is older than all the homies in the brigade… yet he remains looking like he is 30 years old… skateboarding has had to have some sort of affect on his youthful appearance… right? am i taking crazy pills? not that i care about how he looks these days, but if you compared a man the same age as Stacy that works a desk job for some shitty company, they will not look the same…

skateboarding helps us step out of the line of robots that run this country… it lets us see things from a free and raw perspective… the discovering mind is a powerful one…

as skateboarders, we will gladly stay “reckless” and continue doing that thing you did “when you were young”… we still and forever will be…

peace and noLove…

Another great wisdom wednesday! If friends are so important then don’t be a stranger and hit me up sometime to chill! Ignoring friends doesn’t = friendship…
