the boonies…

last weekend we embarked on a mini mountain trip journey… the highlight of the trip was less of the skateboarding and more of the outdoor life we got to experience… what started as a harmless trip into the mountains turned into a full-fledged “living in the boonies” party…

we were told our friend has a cabin in the woods near nederland… most of us have no idea what to expect, but, nevertheless, have expectations… the stories about the cabin’s location were plentiful… “you have to hike to it”, “there is no running water or electricity”, “it’s 15 minutes away”… most of the stories were true… haha…

upon arrival, the most amazing thing happened… we first park our cars on the side of the road… you think you would be in a driveway or ditch or something… we get out of our cars and are not sure what we are doing… our ring leader, Josh Vielehr, starts loading his gear up… so, we follow… we must have made it… as we are packing up to get ready to hike down the mountain, a f#cking black bear waltzes into the road! holy sh@t! he just takes a look at us (prolly sizing us up) and walks down the mountain… this was a good sign we were in the boonies… hyped!

hiking down the mountain to our destination was awesome… we had a bunch of food, water, beer, and sleeping gear to haul with us… i had the pleasure of carrying a 5 gallon container of water down the mountain for a minute… i dropped it! oops… luckily it didn’t matter that much… once you came out of the woods and onto a somewhat flat area, there were two little cabins… home for the evening! everyone is tired from shredding all day, but chilling in the candlelight drinking beers… what a dope setup… we had a roof over our heads, but we were still camping… partying in the woods with the homies is the best…

it gave me some perspective on people who live out in the boonies… you gotta be crafty and self-sufficient… and bad ass… having a cabin in the woods is a lifestyle that is rare these days… everyone lives in cities… there is something to be cherished about the quiet life… the bad ass life…

living in and off of nature is where we started as humans, right? i will always remember this experience… thanks Josh and all the homies killin’ it…

peace and noLove…

ps: footage soon…
