i don’t wanna live forever…

i saw a great documentary the other day… it is called “How To Live Forever” by Mark Wexler… it is no mystery what the movie is about… the content and topics covered in the movie are what really grabbed me… i read a book about one of the topics that was explored in the movie, which was anti-aging… the book changed my perspective on life, and the movie reminded me of the revelations i had…

the documentary starts with the director/producer talking about his age, which was 50… he talks about how his body is breaking down and changing as he gets older… he goes around the world asking different people from different cultures about their perspective on longevity… he interviews some of the oldest people in the world… their stories are beyond intriguing… go see the movie for more details… (not sure where the movie is being showed at though…)

the documentary does a great job of acknowledging the current mainstream perspective of aging… we look at getting older as a bad thing… we say, “we can’t do this or cant be that”… we may lose a certain ability or acquire some illness… well, there is a beautiful side to aging… it is something to embrace… it is an inevitable part of our lives’… to ignore it is childish… there are things we lose along the way, but it is up to us to find something to regain or replace what we lost… the passion for life was a common characteristic of the people in the film…

the concept of anti-aging is awesome to me… i read a book that had detailed instructions on how to prolong your life… the instructions are pretty intense and serious… i don’t think i would ever be able to follow them… but the fact that this idea was introduced to me was idea enough! it gave me a new outlook on life… it made death a reality, but accentuated the importance of life at the same time! i am indebted to this book for many reasons… i didn’t get out of it what i was supposed to, but it affected me…

the combination of the book and the movie has made me realize a few things:

1. living forever would be awful…
2. stressing about living healthily will kill you faster…
3. a passion for life will keep you active and aware for as long as you heartbeat…

staying involved with life is what makes us go… you have gotta stay in motion one way or another if you want to live a full life… take that how you want to take it… in the meantime, skate until you cannot… it’ll keep you alive in all facets of life…

peace and noLove…
